FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

1.) What is a First Gen Cameroonian?

A First Generation Cameroonian is a coined phrase for one who is born in America, but their parent(s) were born in Cameroon. It has also evolved to include those who were born in Cameroon and migrated to America before the age of 12, essentially those who went to elementary school in America.

2.) I do not meet the membership criteria, in what ways can I support the First Generation Cameroonian Association.

First Gen strategically plans to reach audiences outside of its member in the following ways:

– Provide mentoring opportunities to those under the age of 21

– Host a variety of events that are open to the general public designed to not only unite first gens, but to allow others to experience our unique culture.

– Seek guidance from an advisory board/board of directors in the community to influence our agenda.

3.) I don’t live in Maryland, will that affect my membership in the First Generation Cameroonian Association?

No, there are many opportunities to remain actively engaged virtually. Many members also travel to Maryland for our annual in -person events. As our membership grows, we hope to host events across the nation.

4.) How can I make a donation to the First Generation Cameroonian Association?

Thank you for your thoughts of generosity. To make a donation please contact our Acting Interim President, Tracey Ndenecho – firstgencamerpresident@gmail.com
